Jaffna railway station suffered repeated shelling in the 1980s and today the station is abandoned with much of the roof caved in. The walls have become a canvas for local people to express a mixture of personal and political sentiments. The government plans to rebuild the northern trainline as part of its larger development plan for the north and east regions of Sri Lanka. Jaffna, February 2012.
