Whilst trade in domestic ivory remains legal in Thailand, possession of African ivory is not. Researchers at the Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation’s biolab conduct DNA tests on confiscated ivory and captured tigers in order to determine its source of origin and gather evidence for prosecution cases.
